Wilson Santos, the New York native of Dominican decent, entered the dance music arena as a party promoter in the early days of the New York club world. After a hiatus from the scene in the early nineties to attain a degree in English, Wilson reinstated himself back into the dance world in 1995. His devotion to the scene and the culture helped him form relationships with many of the industrys most renowned DJs and Artists including, Robert Owens, Roger Sanchez, DJ Disciple, Michael Watford, KC Flight and Rochelle Fleming. This high status group along with countless others, continue to be a part of Wilsons now legendary, One Step Beyond (OSB) Parties. Yet, this is just the start of Wilsons incredible impact on the dance music scene, which carries through to his song writing, music productions, underground dance events and a record label.
In 1999, after nearly a decade of support and dedication to the dance music
scene, Wilson began deejaying himself. He went on to launch his own record label
One Step Beyond Records in the fall of 2000, as an outlet for his creativity
and a means of self-expression. The label allows Wilson to display his remarkable
talents as a writer and producer. He has demonstrated his skills by writing
all of his own music and spoken-word pieces. His most widely known work was
a collaborative effort with the world renowned production duo John
Creamer and Stephane K., the result of
which came the international dance floor hit entitled "The
DJ The Music & Me", released on Star 69 Records. His self-titled
"One Step Beyond EP" and "Beauty In The Beats EP" has earned
Wilson industry-wide respect and recognition by his peers as a producer. Most
importantly the label serves the need to reach a broad international market
while exploiting and displaying Wilsons talents. Within just three years
as a DJ and producer, he has built up a respectable fan base of fervent fans
worldwide as he demonstrates his ability to whip partygoers into a welcomed
frenzy with the taste of his own style and flavor.
Wilson has evolved throughout the past three years into one of New York’s
most diverse and innovative producers of dance music today. His unique form
of fused Tech and Tribal House music, has led him to work with some of dance
industries most recognizable artists and prominent labels. His repertoire includes
productions and remixes for international dance artists Dirty Vegas, Kathy Brown
and Thick Dick. His 2002 club hit “Judgments & Misconceptions”
was featured on two widely successful compilations: Defected Sessions (Full
Intention & Smokin’ Jo) and Ministry of Sound’s (Clubbers Guide
2002). Since its release in 2001, his production, “One Step Beyond”
has been featured on over ten compilations worldwide, including Steve Lawler’s
(Nu Breed – Global Underground) and Terry Francis’ (DJ Magazine
Mix Compilation). Wilson has been praised in dance magazines such as: Music
Week (UK), DJ Magazine (UK) and Muzik Magazine (UK). In 2001, UK’s legendary
Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong, hailed his production of “Jaded Memory” (MOS
Defected), as one of the “Top 3 tunes of New Year’s 2001”-
praise which got the world’s attention during a New Year’s broadcast
of the show.
Wilson recently returned to the studio this past spring with fellow producers
Steven Mestre, Lunic and Antranig (Sondos) to work on brand new productions
along with some of the industry’s hottest talents. His upcoming 2003 DJ
tour is scheduled for the US, Peru, Chile, Argentina and the Czech Republic.
Expect to hear two new creations from him on OSB Records, including "La
Danza”, which was just released this past March and “Perception
Examined”, due out this summer. You can obtain additional information
